Job Description:
Infrastructure - Systems Administrator (1st internal technical
round and 2nd interview to be with client)
- Build Virtual Machines using VMware, Amazon, Cobbler and
Puppet
- Work with a 24x7 NOC, development, and support engineers to
troubleshoot issues in production and pre-production environments
- Assist in the administration of the deployment environment
(e.g., build & post RPMs to Yum repositories)
- Identify, implement, and document technical SOPs for
maintenance tasks
- Working with development teams to further operationalize their
applications, with a focus on repeatability, redundancy, and scalability
- Ability to create and maintain policies, standards, and
overall system documentation
- Participate in internal development and testing of monitoring,
analytics, and troubleshooting
Technical must haves:
- Understanding of infrastructure-as-code.
- Understanding of DevOps concepts.
- Some hands-on experience or good familiarity with Puppet.
- Solid Unix/Linux system administration experience.
Soft skills:
Intellectual curiosity and a demonstrated appetite to improve
current conditions, specifically in the area of server management in a LINUX
environment.
Responsibilities:
1. Maintain the availability of these services within the XOPS
Core Services team:
•
LDAP
•
DNS
•
DHCP
•
Puppet infrastructure (may change tooling in future)
•
NTP
•
MTA
2. Advance the state of the above services to greater
transparency, availability, and responsiveness to changing environmental
demands.
3. Be able to work in a team environment of 6-8 engineers on the
XOPS Core Services team and with application development teams to initiate and
deliver improvements.
4. Production support may require after-hours response and
remediation.
